My name is Madalitso.

My Day

I wake up at 4:00 am, sweep around my house, clean dishes, sweep my house, bathe, eat and go to school. After school, I go to Rise Malawi. When I get home, I eat, clean dishes, and find jobs in people’s homes like arranging bricks and drawing water. I go to bed at around 9:00 pm. I sleep on a mat.

My Community

I live in a village that has one hospital, and most of the houses are grass-thatched with a mud floor. Our market is a 10 minutes walk from my house. It has many kinds of goods such as vegetables, soy, sweet potatoes, and corn. I get my clothes from kind people. Most people grow corn which is our staple food. In my village, many boys and girls drop out of school because of lack of school fees. They end up smoking Indian Hemp and drinking very strong local beer, and girls get married early. I live with my Mum, and 2 brothers.
